The first meeting of the year on Monday was great and nice to see everyone.
Michael, our guest speaker from The Little Veggie Patch has probably converted many people with his talk on wicking beds, the system is really interesting particularly in light of recent temperatures and how devastating it has been to our gardens despite what we believed to be good preparation!! Their system comes with options of converting existing garden beds to wicking beds, wicking planters on wheels or custom designed wicking planters all of which use of less water and fertiliser with spectacular results; not forgetting the ability to go away knowing that plants will not die because family or friends have forgotten to water … what is there not to love!!
